Two smiling people, a woman and a man, sitting on stacked vintage rugs and furniture, with rugs and rolls of fabric behind them, against a teal wall with a red patterned tapestry hanging above.

About Us

Limiroko is Maine-based couple Liam and Minori Hedefine. Our goal is simplifying and helping de-mystify the often impenetrable world of antique oriental rugs.

Why rugs?
Rugs are at the intersection of art, history, exploration and practicality. They are an expression of what we want our dwellings to project artistically and act as the foundation to interior design. Who wove the rug? Where does it come from? How old is it? All questions we love researching and solving, and another answer as to why we love rugs. Finally, given the choice between a bare floor and a good rug, we’ll always take a good rug.

We work hard to not only find rugs worthy of your home, but to research each piece and pass that knowledge along to you through the information we write here on our website listings, having our DMs open to questions, and through our posts and ‘Rugtalk’ video series on Instagram which can be found here:

Our Policies

Honesty:
Before selling rugs, I was interested in learning about them (this continues today) and I had several negative experiences trying to do so. I hated the feeling that I was being lied to or ripped off, or that someone was just spitting out word salad to try and sell me something…and so a huge goal of ours is the ability to sell with a clean conscience by communicating clearly to our clients about the history, age & potential and evident issues or damage of a piece, and doing so from a place of genuine interest and enthusiasm.

Fairness in Pricing:
While we try to keep a finger on the pulse of the rug market, we also try to make our rugs more affordable to the general public. Since all our rugs come from secondary sources, we try as hard as we can to pass those savings along to you.
