OVERVIEW:
Kazak rugs are perhaps the most well-known of the Caucasian variety of rugs. Simple and bold designs punctuated by rich natural dyes, especially in those from the 19th century, of which this piece belongs.
4 large latch hooked medallions take center field with crisp eggshell and subdued turquoise accented against a rich matte cochineal-based field with no smaller or secondary motifs taking up the peripheral garnet field, a sometimes hard-to-come-by feature of many Caucasian rugs.
A distinguished and hardy Kazak with crisp graphics and entirely structurally sound.
