3'-3" x 4'-11"
AGE & ORIGIN:
19th C.
Caucuses
OVERVIEW:
A highly decorative soumak rug displaying an evolution of one of the oldest known motifs, thought to have derived from Caucasian embroideries and versions of which are seen other rugs such as the Star Kazaks, however soumaks like this are allowed a wider range in how the linework is executed, as the weaving medium allows for greater precision than knotting.
Excellent vegetal dyes, attractive ends and sides with no holes, rips, tears or stains. A fine and nicely aged example and would go just as well on a wall as a floor.
CONDITION:
Good with even wear
