OVERVIEW:
The rugs of Anatolia are typically held in high regard to the rug world. Their designs are often pointed to as the progenitors of many of the motifs found on a wide set of weavings, being simple renditions of visuals that would later be taken and molded to fir the borrowing cultures. Their coloring, as might be noticeable here, often sets them apart as highly saturated, bold, almost alien in their shades, and despite this, they are all vegetal in origin.
There is a deceptive simplicity to these rugs though, for in among the garish colors and pile and motifs are seemingly diminutive elements that, in reality, are markers of an attention to detail often lost in later pieces. Pointing to one, we may look at the blue tones present in the rug, which may, at first, give the appearance of a singular tone, however upon closer inspection, it is in fact a small orchestra of colors giving the appearance of one shade.
For reasons like the element above, it’s thought that Anatolian rugs regularly give the viewer something new to appreciate, adding to their timeless quality and enjoyment as works of art.

CONDITION:
Edge wear with good pile. Original edges replaced with roping and ends need stabilizing, which we can provide a quote for
