#2529 Hamadan Rug
3’-4” x 6’-3”
AGE & ORIGIN:
1st Q. 20th C.
Persia
OVERVIEW:
A pleasant Hamadan borrowing from Kurdish designs with touches that feel more village-like. For example, the use of human figures within the cypress tree-shaped triangular sections on either end. A nice pile and detailed drawings, especially within the meandering border. Of note are the purples found in the darker areas of the rug. Although nearly hidden by brown accents, it shows an attention to detail in color usage by the weaver.
CONDITION:
Some areas of low pile, minor end loss
