3’-5” x 6’-6”
AGE & ORIGIN:
C. 1900
Caucuses
OVERVIEW:
A modestly sized Kazak with the polychromatic trappings and geometry expected of this region. Four panels with leaf-flanked cruciforms fill a forest-green field. Of small note, are the frames within which these forms are placed. While not rare or unusual necessarily, this meandering vine motif is quite a bit more refined in its drawing than the rest of the rug.
CONDITION:
Worn with areas of reweave, border loss and general wear including one discolored area (see picture). Rug came with loops for wall hanging purposes. If it was to be used on a floor, we would suggest stabilizing of the ends, which can be quoted.
