Antique Senneh Rug - 4'4" x 6'7"

$1,550.00

2607

AGE & ORIGIN:
c. 1900
Persia

OVERVIEW:
Once you’ve seen enough rugs, one thing you’ll notice about Senneh rugs is that it is quite rare to find a piece not using the ‘herati’ design. It is the most common motif seen on all Senneh rugs from the mid-19th century onwards. To find a Senneh without any semblance of this motif is quite rare.
That was an aside, as this Senneh quite clearly has the herati motif within its spandrels. However, this rug does have the distinction of the ‘void’ medallion; a large space that trades design, for a lack of one in the form of a monochromatic area. It’s striking, and creates a visually interesting balance to an otherwise unremarkable rug.

CONDITION:
Areas of re-weave, fringe ends re-woven and synthetic red present.
