Antique Square Kurdish Rug
#2532 Square Kurdish Rug
4’-5” x 5’-3”
AGE & ORIGIN:
1st Q. 20th C.
NW Persia
OVERVIEW:
Western Persian/Turkish area Kurdish rugs, as a broad generalization, typically use a creative color palette, geometric design and a full pile, all of which are seen in this rug. This rug also has the distinction of having a cooler color palette, but not one that is overly somber.
CONDITION:
There is an obvious scar towards the center of the field which we would recommend patching rather than stitching, as the patch will allow the rug to remain flat, while the stitch may create a ‘bump’ in the field.
The rug has been patched in another area of the field and also contains selvedge and fringe strapping on all four ends as the outer guard border is gone.
Despite the obvious issues, the rug has a plush, full pile in all other areas with no stains or odors.
