OVERVIEW:
While earlier Turkmen pieces of this size are often referred to as ‘Wedding Rugs’, this later piece was most almost certainly made for commercial production. Tekke pieces are notable for their finer weave, especially compared with similar Turkmen tribes, which is displayed here. This piece also has a more interesting palette than later tekkes would have, displaying muted fuchsine and orange hues.
