AGE & ORIGIN:
C. 1920
Persia
OVERVIEW:
The ‘tree-of-life’ motif is one rooted in many cultures, although it’s typically seen in it’s more formal format with the curvilinear design of distinguished weaving areas of Persia, so to see a version of this motif among the Baluch rugs is a treat. Rows of people, shepherds, camels, swans (?), dogs and other shapes allow the viewer to use their imagination quite liberally when viewing the rug.
CONDITION:
Excellent with minor oxidation of some darker dyes
