Persia
OVERVIEW:
A truly decorative piece, this 1920s Heriz combines the more formal aspects of workshop Persian carpets with the geometric drawings of more classic Northwest Persian rugs.
One cherry-colored oversized border of interchanging oak leaf and petal medallions frames a navy all-over repeating botanical field of several competing influences, including small medallions resembling mina khani florals and elongated willow-tree type tendrils reminiscent of so-called ‘shrub’ rugs.
With feet in both the traditional and sophisticated, this is a truly distinguished carpet.
CONDITION:
Low pile with minor touch-ups
