OVERVIEW:
When rugs are only deemed worthy of areas with heavy foot traffic and are not looked after properly, there are generally two outcomes. The first, is the wear they receive turns them into unrecognizable rags. Similar to a car that’s been fully paid off, they will most likely be driven into the ground until nearly nothing is left.
The second outcome is a rug gains just enough wear to become attractive in a way that a new rug (or any rug for that matter) would never perfectly imitate. The wear is a result of hundreds, maybe thousands of hours of repeating, uncaring footsteps that reveal the foundation and create wear in just the right pattern to deem the piece artistically distressed.
In this Ersari, we feel this is a case of perfect wear. Despite being younger, it has a long history underfoot resulting in a beautifully aged look.
