AGE & OVERVIEW:
1st Q. 20th C.
Persia

OVERVIEW:
There are two big reasons why the bag faces of this Kurdish group are highly sought after by collectors: the colors and the design. These pieces often display a wide array of tones, giving those with a keen eye a type of reference swatchbook for future examples of natural dyes. The design, of course, is this repeating, nearly formal and very pleasant, repeating diamond motif.
It cannot be overstated that while the ‘Jaf Kurd’ descriptor is typically reserved for bag faces, much less common are the rugs of this Kurdish description. The hallmarks of Kurdish rugs (and bags for that matter) are found here: thick, cushy pile. Excellent colors including purples, greens and yellows, and while there is a wonkiness to elements of the drawing, this imperfection keeps it very ‘Kurd’.

CONDITION:
Excellent with full pile
