OVERVIEW:
Lilihan rugs are known for their floral motifs, but sometimes, as in this example, the more ‘Kurdish’ influence will come through creating interesting, more abstract versions, of their typical fare. Lilihan rugs will have more oversized or exaggerated forms which is also on full display here. Those with a keen eye may also notice a relationship with certain Lilihans and Sarouks, that of being painted to appeal to an American market.
In the appeal to the American market, we also have skinnier-than-usual runner at only 2.5’, made to fit smaller Western hallways.
