2'-2" x 9'-0"
AGE & ORIGIN:
Early 20th C.
Persia
OVERVIEW:
A once-much-wider runner that was, at some point in its history, cut down to remove most likely at least two other borders. While it was found in this pitiable state, it may have ended up being to its decorative benefit, as it will now fit in even the skinniest of hallways.
Borrowing an exaggerated motif sometimes referred to as a ‘shield’ from rugs of the Caucuses, this Kurdish rug boasts an interesting color scheme including the elusive aubergine and an unusual granny-smith green, all across a saturated copper field.
Skinnier than most, this rug wears its adjusted size well with an engaging palette and motif.
CONDITION:
Rug had most likely at least two original borders removed. We have stabilized all four sides, with new selvedge and selvedge work done to ends. Low pile and areas in corners of inoffensive, old moth damage.
