Antique Arab Baluch Mat - 2’5” x 3’8”

$175.00

#2527 Arab Baluch Mat
2’-5” x 3’-8”

AGE & ORIGIN:
c. 1900
Persia

OVERVIEW:
These so-called ‘Arab’ Baluch rugs are referred to in this way because of a population of Arab peoples that made their way across the Persian gulf from the modern-day gulf states and Arabia and settled in the valleys of NE Iran in antiquity.
While similar in their design to many Baluch neighbors, they are distinct, typically for their use of camel fields and a softer handle. Of note are the saffron highlights across the field of lightning bolts.

CONDITION:
Worn
