Antique Kurdish Runner

$1,075.00

#2420 Large Kurdish Runner
4’-0” x 11’-6”

AGE & ORIGIN:
c. 1900
NW Persia

OVERVIEW:
Kurdish and NW Persian rugs have a tendency to be quite supple and soft. They also tend towards large geometry, as we can see in this piece. It’s interesting to see the all-over boteh motif displayed at such a large scale, with really just a handful of boteh used in total, which is odd compared to other pieces using the all-over boteh motif that are at a smaller scale.

Another interesting aspect is how the boteh on either end hold green highlights and bookend boteh in the center of the runner that display blue highlights.

CONDITION:
A few small holes and areas of latex repair. Some fraying at fringes
