Antique Sevan Kazak Rug

$300.00

#2422 Sevan Kazak Accent Rug
3’-7” x 5’-5”

AGE & ORIGIN:
c. 1900
Caucuses

OVERVIEW:
There are a few notable things about this piece, as motifs go, the main three medallion ‘keyhole’ design is very common in Kazak rugs, which is given away more robustly by the red weft threads. The fugitive dyes on the bottom of the rug are also common in rugs from this time period, as synthetic dyes had begun to make their way into the production of these rugs.

The keyhole design of this rug is a simplified version of earlier pieces, but is still distinct to the region from which it bears its name.

CONDITION:
Areas of heavy wear and minor exposed foundation; selvedge and slight end wear
