Semi-Antique Hamadan Runner

$225.00
sold out

#2521 Hamadan Runner
2’-10” x 7’-2”

AGE & ORIGIN:
2nd Q. 20th C.
Persia

OVERVIEW:
Like many Hamadan, this piece pulls from a broad range of designs, including the larger, more geometric herati border and all-over floral field. There are several indicators that give evidence of the Hamadan designation, the clearest being the fineness of the weave. While older Hamadan we much finer, there is still a clear delineation between Hamadan of this time period and their single-wefted cousins within the Hamadan district.

CONDITION:
This Hamadan has been cut on the long ends and given a replacement selvedge. This may have been done to accommodate a hallway size or to give more uniform aesthetic appeal if there had been damage on the main border.
Some older synthetic dyes have disappeared from different areas of the rug.
Despite these aesthetic hiccups, the rug, structurally, is in excellent condition (no holes, tears, rips, etc.)
